An event hosted by
Edinburgh Festivals Innovation Lab, AmbITion Scotland, and Snook
Designing better festivals:
can we use the principles and processes of design to make our cultural organisations better for both our audiences and for our businesses?
That was the big question behind a new project that the Edinburgh Festivals Innovation Lab has been working on with leading Glasgow-based design agency Snook, and by attending this event you will discover the results for the first time.
The event will be an introduction to the power of applying design thinking to the arts & cultural context and will include the chance to have practical hands-on experience of the tools and techniques which can help you and your team bring a fresh type of innovation thinking to your work.
- What service design is and how it relates to Scottish cultural organisations
- How to engage your audiences and your partners in improving what you do
- Practical ways to make the experiences you provide better for your audiences and better for you
- How to embed design into all aspects of your work
- How to involve customers in co-designing new services and improving existing ones
(Although the detailed case study of the event is focussed on the Edinburgh Festivals, the content will be relevant and accessible for people from all types of cultural organisation and background). This is the second of a special series of events co-hosted by AmbITion Scotland and the Edinburgh Festivals Innovation Lab.
The Edinburgh Festivals Innovation Lab, or festivalslab for short, is an initiative of Festivals Edinburgh, the strategic umbrella organisation that comprises the twelve Edinburgh Festivals. It is an experimental and collaborative resource for the festivals to explore how they can use digital technology to create new value for audiences, artists, the city and the festivals themselves.
